Between 13th and 18th August, Manitoba in Canada hosted the IPSC Canada National Championship. Amongst the 360 participants, there were three representatives from CZ: Marina Gushchina, Zdeněk Liehne and Robin Šebo.
The participants faced 18 shooting stages with targets placed at distances shorter than is the practice in European competitions, which allowed for faster and more dynamic performance. Compared to other world events, time was therefore more important in the scoring rather than points. Robin Šebo said of the event: “It was a great, American style competition which I really enjoy. The stages were fast and not too technical. We had to cope with warm weather and smog, as unfortunately, there were some fires in the area”.
All three representatives from Zbrojovka gained a place on the score sheet. Robin Šebo won a gold medal in the Production Division with his CZ Shadow 2 pistol, joined by Zdeněk Liehne with his CZ 75 SP-01 Shadow Orange winning a gold medal in the Standard Division. Both of them also shared first place in the Shoot Off. Despite some bad luck and difficulties at one of the stages, Marina Gushchina achieved a nice second place in the Open Lady Division with her CZ 75 TS Czechmate.
In addition to these shooters representing CZ in Manitoba, the company was also the main sponsor of the event, together with its Canadian partner, Wolverine Supplies.
Furthermore, members of the CZ Shooting Team did very well in other competitions. Between 25th and 26th August, the Geco Open took place in Debrecen, Hungary, where Michal Štěpán dominated the Production Division due to his excellent performance with the CZ Shadow 2.
Having returned from competitions abroad, the Zbrojovka’s IPSC shooters are currently preparing for another important event of the season, the Czech National Championship. It will take place on the first weekend in September in Hodonice, near Znojmo.
